My hero I have always thought if I could be half the woman my mom was, I would be quite satisfied and feel very blessed. She was married to an alcoholic, raised 6 children and lost one at 6 months to pneumonia. Though we didnt have much we never did without. We had one new pair of shoes for school each year. And food to eat and a roof over our heads. She lost a long battle with sickness in 2003 and went quietly home. Through it all, she never conplained, she kept her faith, and in the end looked forward to going home. I still miss her. She was more than my mother, she was my best friend, my confidant, and she was my hero.
